good grinder, does well for espresso

Good manual grinder, I’m using it with the espresso burrs and am happy with the results.

I really like the design, but I think I’d like it even better with a metal catch cup - so if it’s in your budget , you could consider the next model up.

A note I have is that you may find it slightly uncomfortable to hold if you have smaller hands, as I do. It seems to be designed to be more ergonomic for people with average hand size.

Surprisingly great grinder

With limited experience of using hand grinders, I did my research on which to buy for espresso and came up with the Kinu M47 Phoenix. After giving it a trial run at the store, I liked it. I have been using it now for a month and I couldn’t be happier with this grinder. It’s performed great in pulling shots and with the aeropress. The ergonomics of this grinder is just great. Super easy to load beans, dial in, and the handle makes it almost effortless to grind. The only thing I don’t like is the plastic catch cup with the O ring. As coffee snob, I can say this was a good purchase.

Great grinder

I've had no issues dialing in espressos with this grinder. The only qualm I have with it is that the adjustment dial doesn't keep track of how many full revolutions it has done, so I have to keep track of that.

User experience is very pleasant as well. It is easy to put beans in and it feels relatively smooth to grind light roasted beans. There have been no issues getting espresso shots dialed into the perfect grind size so that it pours in the exact time that I would want it to.

The Hoffmann Effect

Yes I admit I bought this pretty much just based on watching his review video - and yes it absolutely kicked my home coffee game up several notches. It is a beautiful piece of kit and a joy to use. Initial dialing in is a bit of a challenge - very hard to figure out where it is set initially but once you get it, it is good to go.

Great solid grinder

Deciding between Phoenix and Classic models came down to price and weight difference.
Phoenix grinds very well and is well built with a solid feel, but rubber ring moved and it lacks any thumb/finger rest to aid in stability whilst grinding.
After a couple of weeks, it is pleasant to use and has excellent results in the cup for pourovers and moka pot w dark and medium roasted beans.
Recommended.
